Pepes Tahu with Mozzarella

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
5 pieces Tofu, mashed until smooth
1 Egg
To taste Salt
To taste Sugar
To taste Seasoning (e.g., chicken bouillon)
To taste Ground black pepper
To taste Grated mozzarella

Sliced Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
4 Small green tomatoes
To taste Bird’s eye chilies
To taste Curly green chilies
2 Shallots
1 Garlic
1 stalk Green onion

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed tofu with the sliced ingredients: green tomatoes, bird’s eye chilies, curly green chilies, shallots, garlic, and green onion.
  2. Add the egg, salt, sugar, seasoning, and ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. If desired, fold in the grated mozzarella until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a steaming-safe dish, ensuring it is placed in a container that won’t warp while steaming.
  5. Steam for approximately 20 minutes. A pot or a rice cooker can be used for this step, making it convenient.
  6. Once done, enjoy your delicious Pepes Tahu, garnished with more mozzarella if desired!
