Tempe Mendoan: A Deliciously Crispy Indonesian Delight

Ingredients

Tempe 2 pieces, thinly sliced
Green onions (daun bawang) 2 stalks, thinly sliced
All-purpose flour 250 grams
Tapioca or rice flour 1 tablespoon
Water 400 ml
Salt To taste
Flavoring (optional) To taste
Spice mixture (ground)
– Garlic 3 cloves
– Coriander 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients, including the flour, tapioca or rice flour, water, salt, and flavoring, until well blended into a smooth batter.
  2. Dip each slice of tempe into the batter, ensuring it’s well coated.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan, then gently fry the coated tempe until they are half-cooked and still light in color; they do not need to be fully crispy.
