Sapo Tahu: A Delicious Tofu Stir-Fry

Sapo Tahu is a delightful Indonesian dish that combines crispy tofu with fresh vegetables and a medley of savory sauces. This easy recipe is perfect for a healthy meal that can be prepared in no time.

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tofu 5 pieces (cut into thick slices)
Broccoli 2 stalks
Carrots 2 pieces
Onion 1 large (thinly sliced)
Garlic 4 cloves (crushed)
Bird’s Eye Chili 5 pieces (sliced thin)
Green Onion 1 stalk (chopped)
Oyster Sauce To taste
Sweet Soy Sauce To taste
Soy Sauce To taste
Fish Sauce To taste
Salt To taste
Sugar To taste
Black Pepper To taste
Water As needed

Instructions

  1. Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu slices until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  2. Blanch the Vegetables: In a separate pot, boil water and blanch the carrots and broccoli until tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: In the same pan, sauté the crushed garlic, sliced onion, and bird’s eye chili until fragrant.
  4. Combine Vegetables: Add the blanched carrots and broccoli to the pan, stirring well to mix.
  5. Add Sauces: Pour in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, and season with salt, sugar, and black pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
  6. Incorporate Tofu: Gently fold in the fried tofu and chopped green onions. Adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  7. Serve: Once heated through, remove from heat and serve hot.
