Quick and Easy Oseng Tempe Tahu (Stir-Fried Tempe and Tofu)

Ingredients:

Tofu (cut into strips) 2 blocks
Tempe (fermented soybeans) 1 package
Red chili (sliced) 2 pieces
Garlic (minced) 4 cloves
Shallots (sliced) 5 cloves
Bay leaf 1 leaf
Galangal (sliced) 2 cm piece
Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) 2 sachets
Water 1 glass
Bird’s eye chili (optional) 8 pieces (adjust to taste)
Sugar (to taste) To taste
Salt (to taste) To taste

Instructions:

Step Action
1 Heat some oil in a pan and fry the tofu slices until golden and crispy. In the meantime, also fry the tempe until crisp and golden.
2 While waiting for the tofu and tempe to fry, peel and slice the shallots, garlic, and red chilies.
3 In the same pan, sauté the shallots, garlic, red chilies, bay leaf, and galangal until fragrant and aromatic.
4 Add the fried tofu and tempe to the pan. Pour in the water, followed by the sweet soy sauce (kecap manis), and season with sugar and salt to taste. Stir everything well and let the flavors meld together, simmering until the sauce thickens and the tofu and tempe are fully infused with the seasonings.
5 Serve this delicious stir-fried tempe and tofu with warm steamed rice. Enjoy your meal and don’t forget to say a little prayer before you dig in! 😊
