Ingredients:

Egg 1
Red chili paste (optional) 1 tablespoon (adjust to taste)
Bird’s eye chili (optional) 1 (adjust to spice preference)
Sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis) To taste
Light soy sauce (Kecap Asin) A few drops
Nasi Goreng seasoning (Sajiku) 1 tablespoon
Celery leaves (Seledri) To garnish
Green onion (Daun Bawang) 2-3 stalks, chopped
Ground black pepper (Lada) A pinch
Ground shallots and garlic mix (BMBP) 3 cloves shallots + 2 cloves garlic
Cooking oil 2 tablespoons
Butter 2 tablespoons
Crispy tempe (Tempe Kriuk), fried with all-purpose flour To taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cooking Base:

    • In a large frying pan or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil along with 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture is hot.
  2. Scramble the Egg:

    • Crack the egg into the pan and quickly scramble it, stirring until fully cooked and set aside on one side of the pan.
  3. Saute the Aromatics:

    • Add 1 tablespoon of red chili paste (optional) and a pinch of finely chopped bird’s eye chili (optional) to the pan, sautéing for about a minute to release their fragrances.
    • Add the ground shallots and garlic mixture (BMBP) to the pan and sauté until fragrant and slightly golden.
  4. Season the Rice:

    • Pour a small amount of water to prevent sticking, stirring the ingredients together.
    • Season the mixture with a pinch of ground black pepper, a generous splash of sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis), and a few drops of light soy sauce (Kecap Asin) to balance the sweetness and saltiness. Add the Sajiku nasi goreng seasoning and mix well.
  5. Add the Rice:

    • Add the cold, cooked white rice to the pan and stir everything together, making sure the rice is evenly coated with the spices and seasonings. Continue stirring for about 2-3 minutes until the rice is heated through.
  6. Finish with Garnishes:

    • Stir in the chopped green onions and celery leaves for a fresh burst of flavor.
  7. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Plate the fried rice and top with crispy tempe (Tempe Kriuk) that has been fried using all-purpose flour.
    • Optionally, you can drizzle with more sweet soy sauce for extra richness and sweetness.
