Crispy Tempe Mendoan

Ingredients

Tempe 1 board (papan)
All-purpose flour 3 tablespoons
Spice Blend
– Coriander seeds 1 tablespoon
– Fresh turmeric 1 small piece
– Garlic cloves 3 cloves
– Salt 1 teaspoon
– Celery (sliced) 1 stalk
– Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Slice the tempe thinly or to your desired thickness.
  2. Make the Spice Mixture: Blend the coriander, turmeric, garlic, and salt until smooth. Combine this blend with the all-purpose flour in a mixing bowl, adding the sliced celery and enough water to create a batter. Adjust salt to taste if necessary.
  3. Coat the Tempe: Dip each piece of tempe into the batter, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  4. Fry the Tempe: Heat oil in a pan until hot. Carefully add the coated tempe slices one by one. Fry until golden brown and crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels.
