Sugar (optional) a pinch
Ground pepper 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Cut the tempe and steam it until soft.

  2. Season the Tempe: In a mortar, grind the garlic, salt, and pepper together. Add the steamed tempe and continue to grind until well mixed.

  3. Form the Steak: Transfer the mixture to a bowl, sprinkle with flour, and knead until smooth. Shape into patties and flatten them slightly.

  4. Cook the Tempe Steak: Heat a non-stick pan, add 1 tablespoon of butter, and cook the tempe steaks over low heat to prevent burning and ensure thorough cooking.

  5. Make the Sauce: In another pan, sauté sliced garlic and onion until fragrant. Add the tomato sauce, chili sauce, and oyster sauce, then mix in the dissolved cornstarch.
