Tempe 1 block
Fried tofu (washed) 1 package
Hard-boiled eggs 5 pieces
Thick coconut milk 300 ml
Water 1 liter
Shallots 4 cloves
Garlic 3 cloves
Coriander 1 tsp
Candlenuts 2 pieces
Galangal (smashed) 2 cm
Bay leaves 2 pieces
Salt To taste
Javanese sugar ½ small block
Fried shallots (for garnish) As needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Begin by thoroughly washing the fried tofu to ensure it’s clean and ready for cooking.

  2. Blend the Spices: In a blender or mortar, combine the shallots, garlic, coriander, and candlenuts. Grind them into a smooth paste to release their rich flavors.

  3. Sauté the Mixture: Heat a pan over medium heat and sauté the blended spices until they become fragrant and soft. Add a splash of water to prevent sticking and allow the mixture to boil gently.

  4. Add the Main Ingredients: Carefully introduce the tofu, tempe, and hard-boiled eggs into the pan. Let them simmer for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.

  5. Incorporate Liquids: Pour in the remaining water and the thick coconut milk. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  6. Season the Dish: Add Javanese sugar, salt, and optional seasoning such as broth powder to enhance the taste. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference.

  7. Serve: Once everything is well combined and heated through, transfer to a serving dish and garnish with crispy fried shallots for added texture and flavor.

Enjoy this delightful Terik Tahu Tempe Telur, a perfect blend of flavors that showcases the essence of traditional Indonesian cuisine!
