Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe 1 medium block
Garlic 5 cloves
Shallots 7 cloves
Green chilies 10 pieces
Sweet soy sauce 2 tablespoons
Salt To taste
Flavor enhancer To taste
Vegetable oil 5 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Begin by thinly slicing the shallots, garlic, and green chilies. Next, cut the tempe into thin, elongated pieces to ensure even cooking.

  2. In a heated pan, add the vegetable oil and sauté the sliced shallots and garlic until they become fragrant and soft. Then, add the sliced green chilies, allowing them to cook until they wilt, releasing their vibrant flavors.

  3. Introduce the tempe to the pan, mixing it well with the sautéed shallots and chilies. Stir continuously to ensure the tempe absorbs the flavors of the aromatics.

  4. Pour in the sweet soy sauce, stirring again to combine all the ingredients thoroughly. Season with salt and flavor enhancer to taste, ensuring the balance of flavors is just right.

  5. Continue to stir-fry the mixture until the tempe is evenly coated with the sauce and fully cooked. Once everything is well combined and the tempe has absorbed the sauce, it’s ready to be served and enjoyed!

This delightful dish, known for its simplicity and robust flavors, makes for an excellent side or main dish, perfect for any meal. Enjoy the taste of Indonesia with every bite!
