Asem Bandeng Bening Recipe

Ingredients

Red bell pepper, chopped 2

Galangal, crushed 1 thumb-sized piece
For Seasoning
Masako seasoning ÂŊ packet
Sugar 1 teaspoon
Salt ÂŊ teaspoon
Tamarind (500g) 2 packets
Tomato, diced 1
For Vegetables
Sweet corn, cut into 3 pieces 1
Long green beans, cut into matchsticks 1 bunch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Vegetables: Start by boiling the sweet corn until tender. Once cooked, set aside.

  2. SautÊ Aromatics: In a large pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add the chopped shallots, garlic, red bell pepper, bird’s eye chilies, and crushed galangal. SautÊ until fragrant and golden brown.

  3. Cook the Fish: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the long green beans and the halved bandeng to the boiling water.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Once the fish and beans are in the pot, add the sautÊed mixture along with the tamarind, masako seasoning, sugar, and salt. Stir gently to combine all the flavors.

  5. Final Touches: Add the diced tomato and the boiled sweet corn to the pot. Mix well and adjust the seasoning according to your taste.

  6. Serve: Allow everything to cook together until the fish is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender. Remove from heat and serve warm.
