Crispy Fried Gurami (Tilapia) Recipe from Dapur Eci

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Gurami fish 1 whole
Sajiku flour As needed
Whole chicken egg 1
Cooking oil For frying
Sambal (spicy sauce) To serve
Fresh lime juice To taste

Instructions:

  1. Preparation of Fish: Begin by cleaning the gurami fish thoroughly, removing its scales and innards. Carefully make a cut down the center of the fish’s body, similar to the illustration provided.

  2. Marination: Rinse the fish well and squeeze fresh lime juice over it. Allow it to marinate for a few minutes before rinsing again under clean water.

  3. Breading the Fish: In a shallow bowl, beat the whole egg. Dip the marinated fish first into the beaten egg, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it generously with Sajiku flour, ensuring an even layer for a crispy finish.

  4. Frying: Heat cooking oil in a frying pan over high heat until it’s hot enough for frying. Carefully place the coated fish into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, which should take about 5-7 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness of the fish.

  5. Serving: Once cooked, remove the fish from the oil and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Serve hot, accompanied by fresh vegetables and a sambal kecap made from sliced shallots, bird’s eye chilies, tomatoes, lime juice, and sweet soy sauce for an extra kick.

Enjoy your delightful crispy fried gurami with a side of vibrant sambal and fresh greens for a truly appetizing experience!
