Ikan Bawal Bumbu Acar

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Ikan bawal (or any fish) 4 pieces
Timun 2 pieces
Wortel 2 pieces
Bawang merah 5 cloves
Bawang putih 3 cloves
Kunyit 1 small piece
Cabe rawit 3 pieces
Kemiri 3 pieces
Serai 1 stalk, bruised
Jahe 1 small piece, bruised
Daun jeruk 2 leaves, torn
Garam to taste
Penyedap to taste
Gula to taste
Minyak untuk menggoreng as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fish: Clean the ikan bawal and cut each fish into two halves. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish until golden brown and cooked through. Once done, remove the fish from the oil and let it drain on paper towels.

  2. Prepare the Vegetables: Slice the timun and wortel into thin matchstick-like pieces.

  3. Sauté the Spices: In a separate pan, heat a little oil and sauté the ground spices (bawang merah, bawang putih, kunyit, cabe rawit, and kemiri) until fragrant.

  4. Add Vegetables: Once the spices are aromatic, add the sliced wortel and timun. Pour in a small amount of water to help cook the vegetables slightly.

  5. Combine: Gently add the fried fish to the pan with the vegetables. Stir everything together carefully to avoid breaking the fish.

  6. Season: Taste and adjust the seasoning with garam, penyedap, and gula as needed.

  7. Serve: Once everything is well combined and heated through, transfer to a serving dish and enjoy your Ikan Bawal Bumbu Acar!

This dish beautifully combines the rich flavors of fried fish with the fresh crunch of vegetables, all elevated by the aromatic spices. Enjoy it as a delightful main course at your next gathering!
