Title: Emma’s Special Tilapia Soup

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Fresh tilapia fish 1 whole (approx. 500g)
Shallots 5 cloves
Garlic cloves 3 cloves
Green onions To taste
Fresh ginger 1 thumb-sized piece, crushed
Lemongrass 1 stalk, crushed
Water Approx. 400 ml
Salt To taste
Black pepper To taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Thinly slice the shallots and garlic. Crush the ginger and lemongrass to release their natural oils and flavors. Chop the green onions for later.

  2. Boil the Water: In a medium pot, bring approximately 400 ml of water to a boil over medium heat.

  3. Add Aromatics: Once the water is boiling, add the sliced shallots, garlic, crushed ginger, and lemongrass. Allow these ingredients to simmer for a few minutes until the fragrance of the spices fills the air.

  4. Cook the Fish: Gently add the whole tilapia to the boiling broth. Reduce the heat to a low simmer, ensuring the fish cooks slowly. This will help prevent the fish from falling apart.

  5. Season the Broth: When the fish is halfway cooked, add salt and black pepper to taste. Stir gently and let it simmer until the fish is fully cooked through.

  6. Add Green Onions: Just before serving, add the chopped green onions to the pot. Allow the soup to cook for a few more minutes to combine all flavors.

  7. Serve and Enjoy: Ladle the hot soup into bowls and serve immediately alongside steamed rice.

Tip: For best results, keep the heat low throughout cooking to maintain the fish’s delicate texture.
