Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ice Mold:
To create an impressive ice ring, begin by arranging the orange slices in the bottom of a bundt pan or any decorative mold you have on hand. Carefully pour the cranberry juice over the orange slices, ensuring they are submerged. Freeze this mixture until solid, which will take at least 8 hours, so plan accordingly.

  2. Create Melon Balls:
While your ice mold is freezing, take your seedless watermelon and use a melon baller to scoop out about 3 cups of melon balls. These fruity gems will add both flavor and elegance to your punch. After scooping, transfer the melon balls into a plastic bag and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

  3. Prepare the Watermelon Puree:
Once the ice mold is solid and you’re ready to serve, cut the remaining watermelon flesh into chunks. Place these chunks into a blender along with the confectioners’ sugar and freshly squeezed lime juice. Blend this mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency. To achieve an even finer texture, press the blended puree through a fine mesh strainer, discarding any solids. Store the smooth puree in an airtight container in the refrigerator until it’s time to assemble the punch.

  4. Unmold the Ice Ring:
When it’s time to serve, carefully remove the ice ring from its mold. To do this, dip the bottom of the bundt pan into a sinkful of hot water for about 12 seconds—this will help loosen the ice. Then, gently invert the mold over a plate to unmold the ice ring and slide it into a punch bowl.

  5. Assemble the Punch:
Begin the assembly by pouring half of the chilled watermelon puree into the punch bowl, followed by the champagne from two bottles. For an added touch, garnish with a handful of the reserved melon balls and lime slices. As guests enjoy the punch, continue to replenish it with the remaining watermelon puree and champagne as needed, ensuring that the festivities remain lively and refreshed.

With its beautiful presentation and refreshing flavors, this Watermelon Champagne Punch is sure to be a hit at any gathering. Enjoy the delightful blend of fruity notes with a sparkling twist, making each sip feel like a celebration in itself. Cheers!
