Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple:
Start by thoroughly washing the apple to remove any dirt or pesticides. Peel the apple and cut it into small slices or chunks, depending on your preference.

  2. Cooking the Apple:
In a pressure cooker, add the apple slices along with 2-3 tablespoons of water. Secure the lid and cook for 2 whistles on medium heat. Once done, place the pressure cooker under cold running water to cool it down. Alternatively, you can steam the apple slices in a baby steamer or cook them in a pan with a lid until they become soft and tender. Cooking in a pressure cooker or steamer helps preserve more of the nutrients by reducing cooking time.

  3. Puree the Apples:
Once the apples are cooked and soft, transfer them to a blender or mixer grinder. Blend until smooth, adding a little extra water to adjust the consistency to your liking. For a thinner consistency, you can add more water to achieve the desired texture.

  4. Serve:
Serve the homemade apple puree fresh and warm to your baby. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or frozen for later use.

Tips for Serving and Variations:

  • Mix with Other Purees: You can combine this apple puree with other fruit purees or vegetable purees, such as carrot or pumpkin, to provide variety in your baby’s diet.
  • Add Spices (for 6 months onwards): Once your baby is ready for more flavors, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom for a subtle twist.
  • Incorporate into Other Meals: Apple puree can be mixed with cereals, yogurt, or even used in baking healthy treats like teething biscuits or baby-friendly cakes.

This apple puree is a simple yet nourishing recipe that helps introduce your baby to the world of solid foods in a healthy and flavorful way.
