- 1 tablespoon Oil

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Instructions:
- Prepare the Five Spice Powder: In a small skillet, toast the cinnamon stick, cloves, fennel seeds, star anise, and black peppercorns over medium heat until fragrant. Once cooled, grind them together to make the Five Spice Powder.
- Prepare the Burger Patties: Drain the beans and transfer them to a medium bowl, reserving the liquid. Mash the beans using a potato masher until smooth but slightly chunky.
- Add the bread crumbs, beaten egg, black pepper powder, garlic powder, chopped coriander leaves, soy sauce, sugar, lemon juice, olive oil, Chinese five spice powder, and salt to the mashed beans. Mix well until the mixture comes together.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties, pressing slightly to form disc-like shapes.
- Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, cook the patties in batches, turning once, until they form a crispy crust on both sides.
- When the patties are almost done, place a cheese slice on top of each patty. Cover the pan and allow the cheese to melt before removing the patties.
- Assemble the Burger: While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half horizontally and toast them in the skillet until golden brown. Once toasted, spread the mayonnaise on the inside of the buns.
- On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer mixed greens, followed by the cheese-topped bean patty. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve: Serve the Five Spice Bean Burgers warm, along with a side of Baked Potato Wedges and a dessert of Greek Yogurt Chocolate Mousse for a wholesome, flavorful meal.
Enjoy your delicious Five Spice Bean Burger!
