Cuisine: Kashmiri
Course: Snack
Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain (Carom seeds)
  • Water, as needed
  • Oil, for cooking

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, sieve the rice flour to ensure it’s smooth. Add salt and ajwain seeds.
  2. Gradually add water, stirring continuously to form a smooth batter. It should have a consistency similar to dosa batter – neither too thick nor too runny.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, reduce the flame to low.
  4. Ladle a portion of the batter onto the pan and spread it evenly in a round shape.
  5. Drizzle oil around the edges of the pancake and cover the pan with a lid. Allow the pancake to cook until the bottom turns light brown and small pores appear on the top.
  6. Apply a little oil to the top, then flip the pancake carefully. Cook the other side until golden brown.
  7. Serve the warm Chhir Chot with Tomato Garlic Chutney and Masala Chai for a perfect breakfast or tea-time snack.

Enjoy your delicious Kashmiri Chhir Chot!
