- 1/3 cup Caster Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

- 1/4 cup Jam (mixed fruit jam or preserves)

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

Using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.

Add the caster sugar and continue to beat until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.

Gradually add half of the flour mixture, beating on low speed until just incorporated. Add the remaining flour and mix gently with a spatula or mixer until fully combined—avoid overmixing.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Place the granulated sugar in a small bowl and lightly roll each dough ball in the sugar. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.

Gently press your thumb into the center of each dough ball to create an indentation. Fill the center with approximately 1/4 teaspoon of jam or preserve. (You can use the flat end of a 1/4 teaspoon measuring spoon to make the indentation.)
