Instructions
-
Prepare the Guava:
Begin by peeling and chopping the guavas into small pieces. In a microwave-safe bowl, add 1/3 cup of water and a pinch of salt. Place the guava pieces in the bowl and cook in the microwave for about 10 minutes until they soften. Allow it to cool down before proceeding. -
Mash the Guava:
After cooling, remove the seeds from the guavas and mash the flesh until smooth. Set the mashed guava aside. -
Grind the Chutney:
In a blender, combine the mashed guava, green chilies, roasted peanuts, finely chopped parsley, garlic cloves, lemon juice, jaggery, and salt. Blend everything together to form a smooth paste. -
Prepare the Tempering (Tadka):
Heat oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the split urad dal and curry leaves. Let them fry for about 10 seconds until the dal turns golden and the curry leaves become crisp. -
Combine and Serve:
Pour the prepared tempering over the chutney and mix well. Your guava chutney is ready to serve!
This chutney pairs excellently with Kirei Sambar (spinach lentil stew), Beetroot Thoran (a stir-fried dish), and plain steamed rice.
