Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potato
Begin by peeling and grating the sweet potatoes using a grater. Place them aside on a plate.

  2. Cook the Sweet Potato
Heat a Kadai (or a deep pan) on medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of ghee. Once the ghee melts and becomes warm, add the grated sweet potato to the pan. Sauté the sweet potato, stirring occasionally, until it softens and becomes tender. This should take around 5–7 minutes.

  3. Add Sugar and Flavors
Once the sweet potato softens, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the pan. Stir well to combine the ingredients.

  4. Incorporate Nuts
Add 1/2 cup of chopped mixed nuts to the halwa for a crunchy texture. Continue stirring to evenly mix the nuts into the sweet potato.

  5. Simmer
Keep cooking the halwa for another 2–3 minutes, ensuring the sweet potato is well coated with the ghee and sugar, and the flavors meld together.

  6. Finish and Serve
Once the halwa has reached your desired consistency, turn off the heat. Transfer the sweet potato halwa into a serving bowl and garnish with a few extra chopped nuts on top.
