Step Number Instruction
Start by preparing the beef broth—make sure to have at least 1 liter of broth ready.
In the meantime, melt the butter in a pan. Add the slices of bread (be sure to remove the dark edges) and toast them on both sides until golden brown.
Once the bread slices are nicely toasted, place one slice in each deep plate or, preferably, in a small baking dish that can go in the oven.
Gently crack one egg on top of each bread slice, making sure to keep the yolk intact. Sprinkle with a couple of tablespoons of Grana Padano cheese.
Pour a ladle of hot beef broth over the bread and egg combination in each dish.
Place the dishes in a preheated oven at 150°C (300°F) and bake for about 5 minutes, or until the egg is lightly set but still runny.
Serve the Zuppa alla Pavese hot and enjoy its comforting, rich flavors.
