Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Puff Pastry 230g
Butter 50g
Sugar 30g
Ricotta Cheese (cow’s milk) 125g
Fresh Liquid Cream 150g
Powdered Sugar 50g
Coffee 25g
Dark Chocolate Chips 25g
Additional Powdered Sugar to taste
Coffee Beans (for decoration) to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ricotta:
Begin by placing the ricotta cheese into a fine mesh strainer to drain any excess moisture. Allow it to sit for at least one hour to ensure it is dry and not too wet.

  2. Brew the Coffee:
Brew fresh coffee using a moka pot, ensuring it’s strong enough to impart a rich flavor. Sweeten it to taste, then set it aside to cool completely.

  3. Mix the Ricotta Filling:
Once the ricotta has drained, transfer it into a mixing bowl. Add the powdered sugar and mix until you achieve a smooth, homogenous cream.

  4. Incorporate the Coffee and Chocolate:
Once the brewed coffee has cooled, gradually stir it into the ricotta mixture, ensuring it is well incorporated. Add the dark chocolate chips and gently mix to distribute them evenly throughout the cream.

  5. Whip the Cream:
In a separate bowl, whip the fresh cream until soft peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the ricotta mixture, adding it slowly and gently to preserve the airiness.

  6. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 16 equal rectangular pieces. Brush the surface of each pastry with melted butter to help it stay crispy after baking. Use a fork to gently poke holes in each piece to prevent puffing too much during baking.

  7. Assemble the Pastries:
Lay a small amount of the prepared cream mixture onto each pastry rectangle, spreading it evenly across the surface. Top each with another pastry rectangle to form a sandwich. Be sure the pastry edges align neatly to ensure a perfect puff.

  8. Bake the Pastries:
Place the pastries on a baking sheet and bake them in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.

  9. Final Touches:
Once the pastries have cooled, dust them lightly with additional powdered sugar for a sweet finish. If desired, garnish with whole coffee beans for an extra decorative touch.

  10. Serve and Enjoy:
Serve the coffee puff pastries fresh, allowing the delicate pastry and creamy coffee filling to melt in your mouth. Perfect for an afternoon treat or a special dessert at gatherings!

These Coffee Puff Pastry Bites are a delightful combination of crispy puff pastry and rich, creamy coffee-infused filling. The whipped cream adds a light, airy texture, while the dark chocolate chips provide a touch of indulgence. With a hint of coffee, these sweet bites are perfect for coffee lovers looking for a delicious and elegant dessert!
