Capocollo Cones Filled with Goat Cheese and Herbs on Classic Puff Pastry
Category: Appetizers
Servings: 12 pieces

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Goat Cheese (Caprino) 100g
Fresh Mint 4 leaves
Aneto (Dill) 2 sprigs
Fresh Ground Black Pepper To taste
Fine Salt To taste
Capocollo (or Coppa) 6 slices
Additional Mint for Garnish 12 leaves
Additional Aneto for Garnish 12 sprigs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Capocollo Cones
Begin by taking the slices of capocollo (or coppa) and folding them in half. Carefully shape each slice into a cone by wrapping the capocollo around itself. The result should be a small, tightly rolled cone.

  2. Make the Goat Cheese Filling
In a bowl, place the goat cheese and finely chop the mint and dill. You can use a knife to mince the herbs, ensuring that theyโ€™re finely chopped for a smooth blend with the cheese. Add the chopped herbs to the goat cheese (about 5-6 leaves of mint and 1-2 sprigs of dill).

  3. Season the Cheese
Season the goat cheese mixture with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Mix everything together thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined.

  4. Fill the Cones
Transfer the goat cheese mixture into a pastry bag fitted with a star-shaped tip. Gently pipe the herb-infused cheese into each capocollo cone, filling them generously.

  5. Assemble the Dish
Lay out a sheet of puff pastry (preferably pre-rolled) and place one capocollo cone on top of each piece of pastry. The classic puff pastry will serve as the base, adding a crispy and delicate contrast to the creamy, flavorful filling inside the cone.

  6. Garnish
For a decorative touch, top each filled cone with a fresh mint leaf and a sprig of dill, as shown in the image.

  7. Serve and Enjoy
The capocollo cones filled with goat cheese and herbs are best served immediately, allowing guests to enjoy the fresh, vibrant flavors and crispy pastry at their peak.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a light drizzle of honey over the top before serving, balancing the savory herbs with a touch of sweetness.
  • These cones are perfect as appetizers for a dinner party or as a special snack to impress your guests.

This dish offers a beautiful balance of savory and fresh flavors, with the richness of the goat cheese complementing the herby freshness of mint and dill, all encased in the savory delight of capocollo and flaky puff pastry. Enjoy them as an appetizer or a delightful finger food for your next gathering!
