Strawberry Grape and Cinnamon Jam Recipe

Category: Jams and Preserves
Serving Size: 1 jar (approximately)
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Strawberry Grapes 500g
Ground Cinnamon 1 tablespoon
Fruttapec 1:1 (pectin) ยฝ packet
Moscato Wine 1 glass
Sugar 400g

Instructions:

  1. Sanitize Jars & Lids:
Start by sanitizing your glass jars and lids following the official guidelines from the Ministry of Health, provided at the end of this recipe. This step is essential to ensure the long-term preservation of your jam.

  2. Prepare the Grapes:
Wash the strawberry grapes thoroughly and separate the grape berries from the stems. Place them in a large pot, and pour in the Moscato wine.

  3. Cook the Grapes:
Heat the mixture over medium-high heat and cook for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally, allowing the grapes to break down partially. This process helps to release their natural juices and flavors.

  4. Strain the Mixture:
After cooking, pass the grape mixture through a sieve or food mill to remove the skins and seeds. You should now have a smooth grape juice base.

  5. Measure the Juice:
Weigh the extracted liquid to ensure you have the correct amount for the next step. Typically, the liquid should be around 400g. Pour the liquid back into the pot.

  6. Add Sugar & Cinnamon:
Add the same weight of sugar as the liquid (approximately 400g) to the pot along with the ground cinnamon. Stir the mixture well to dissolve the sugar.

  7. Cook the Jam:
Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. This helps the jam thicken and develop rich flavors.

  8. Add Pectin (Fruttapec 1:1):
Once the jam has reached the desired consistency, add the ยฝ packet of Fruttapec 1:1 pectin. Stir it in thoroughly to ensure it dissolves completely. Continue cooking for an additional 3 minutes to allow the pectin to set.

  9. Fill the Jars:
Carefully spoon the hot jam into the sterilized jars, leaving about 1 centimeter of space from the top. Be sure the jars and lids are still warm to prevent the jam from cooling too quickly and losing its texture.

  10. Seal the Jars:
Close the jars tightly, but avoid over-tightening the lids. As the jam cools, it will create a vacuum seal that helps preserve the contents for extended periods.

  11. Check the Seal:
Once the jars are fully cooled, check that the vacuum seal has been created. Press gently on the center of each lid; if you donโ€™t hear the characteristic “click-clack” sound, the seal has been successfully formed.

  12. Enjoy Your Jam:
Your homemade strawberry grape and cinnamon jam is now ready to be enjoyed! Store in a cool, dark place and savor the rich, fruity flavor with your favorite breads, pastries, or as a topping for desserts.

Tips & Variations:

  • Wine Substitution: If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute the Moscato wine with grape juice for a similar flavor profile.
  • Sugar Options: You can reduce the sugar content slightly by adjusting to your taste preferences, though it may impact the jam’s preservation.
  • Flavor Additions: For a twist, you can experiment by adding a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract to enhance the flavor of the jam.
