Spicy Beef Satay with Aromatic Seasoning

Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef (preferably a tender cut)
  • 8-10 cloves garlic
  • A generous amount of black pepper
  • Plain yogurt
  • Curry powder (or Gulai spice mix), to taste
  • Salt and sugar, to taste
  • Red chili powder (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade:

    • Start by blending the garlic and black pepper until finely ground. In a skillet, lightly sauté this mixture until fragrant.
  2. Cook the Beef:

    • Transfer the beef to a pressure cooker. Add the sautéed garlic and pepper mixture, plain yogurt, curry powder (or Gulai spice mix), salt, and sugar. Pour in a small amount of water just to cover the beef. If you don’t have a pressure cooker, you can simmer the beef in a regular pot over low heat until tender.
  3. Shred and Skewer:

    • Once the beef is tender, remove it from the pot and cut it into small pieces suitable for skewering. Thread the beef onto skewers.
  4. Grill the Satay:

    • Grill the skewered beef over medium-high heat until nicely charred and cooked through.
  5. Prepare the Sauce:

    • If you have extra broth, reduce it in a pan until it thickens to a sauce consistency. This can be used as a dipping sauce or brushed onto the satay while grilling.
  6. Quick Yogurt Substitute:

    • If plain yogurt is not available, make a quick substitute by combining milk with a few drops of lemon juice. Allow it to sit until it curdles, creating a yogurt-like texture. Adjust the acidity to your taste.

Notes

  • For an extra spicy kick, add red chili powder to the marinade.
  • Adjust the seasoning and spice levels to your preference.
  • Enjoy your delicious homemade beef satay with the rich, flavorful sauce!

Happy cooking and enjoy your satay experience! 😊😊
