Beef Biryani Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For Marinating the Beef:

    • 1/2 kg beef, cut into pieces
    • 1 tablespoon garam masala
    • 1 tablespoon biryani paste
    • 1 tablespoon chili powder
    • 1 cup yogurt
  • Other Ingredients:

    • 4-5 sticks of cinnamon
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 2 star anise
    • 4 cloves
    • 4 green cardamom pods
    • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
    • 3 tablespoons ghee or margarine, for sautéing
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for sautéing
    • 2 tablespoons biryani paste
    • Salt, to taste
    • 1 can evaporated milk (approximately 400 ml)
    • 300 ml water

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, combine the beef pieces with garam masala, biryani paste, chili powder, and yogurt. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated with the marinade. Cover with an airtight lid and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the Aromatics:

    • Heat the vegetable oil and ghee (or margarine) in a large pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, star anise, cloves, sliced onion, minced garlic, and ground ginger. Sauté until the spices are fragrant and the onions are golden brown.
  3. Cook the Beef:

    • Add the marinated beef to the pan along with the additional biryani paste and garam masala. Stir well to combine and cook until the beef is browned and the spices are thoroughly mixed.
  4. Simmer the Mixture:

    • Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and add the evaporated milk. Stir well, and allow the mixture to simmer until the liquid is reduced and the beef is tender. Adjust seasoning with salt as needed.
  5. Finish Cooking:

    • Once the sauce has thickened and the beef is cooked through, remove from heat.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Serve your delicious beef biryani hot with your favorite accompaniments. Enjoy the rich, aromatic flavors of this classic dish.

Tips:

  • For an extra depth of flavor, you can garnish with fresh cilantro or mint before serving.
  • Adjust the spice levels according to your taste preference by modifying the amount of chili powder and biryani paste.

Enjoy your homemade Beef Biryani!
