Simple Beef Rendang Recipe
Ingredients:
- 300 grams of lean beef
- 200 grams of beef short ribs
- 1 packet of Indofood Rendang seasoning
- 1 packet of Kara coconut milk
- ½ grated coconut
- 2 stalks of lemongrass
- 3 bay leaves
- 3 cardamom pods
- 1 star anise
- 1000 ml water
For the spice paste:
- 4 cloves garlic
- 7 shallots
- 5 candlenuts
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 15 red curly chilies
- 3 cm galangal
- 1 cm ginger

Prepare the Beef: Clean the beef thoroughly and cut it into pieces according to your preference.

Cook the Spice Paste: In a large pot, heat a bit of oil and sauté the ground spices until fragrant. Add the Indofood Rendang seasoning, cardamom pods, star anise, crushed lemongrass, and bay leaves. Continue to cook until aromatic.

Add the Beef: Incorporate the beef pieces into the pot and stir to coat them well with the spice mixture.

Combine Coconut Ingredients: Add the grated coconut and Kara coconut milk to the pot. Mix well.

Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook until the liquid has reduced and the beef is tender, which should take approximately 1.5 hours.
