Homemade Sate Ayam (Indonesian Chicken Satay)

Ingredients:
For the Chicken Skewers:
- 300 grams chicken breast fillet, cut into cubes
- Skewers (wooden or metal)
For the Marinade:
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- Peanut oil
- Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
For the Peanut Sauce:
- 250 grams peanuts, cleaned and fried
- 2 large red chilies
- 3 cloves garlic, fried
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 80 grams palm sugar (or brown sugar)

Prepare the Chicken Skewers:
- Cut the chicken breast fillet into bite-sized cubes.
- Thread the chicken pieces onto the skewers.

Marinate the Chicken:
- In a small bowl, combine peanut oil with finely chopped garlic and sweet soy sauce.
- Dip the chicken skewers into this marinade, making sure the pieces are well-coated.
- Allow the skewers to marinate for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coverage.

Make the Peanut Sauce:
- Place the fried peanuts, red chilies, fried garlic, salt, and palm sugar into a blender or food processor.
- Blend until you achieve a smooth mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan, add approximately 300 ml of water, and bring to a boil.
- Simmer until the sauce thickens and most of the water has evaporated. The oil from the peanuts will start to separate and float to the top. Once the sauce is ready, transfer it to a small serving dish.

- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat.
- Place the marinated chicken skewers on the grill.
- Grill the chicken, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred, about 10-15 minutes.
