For the Spice Paste (Bumbu Halus):
- Shallots: 4 large
- Garlic: 3 cloves
- Roasted Coriander Seeds: 1/2 teaspoon
- Roasted Candlenuts: 1 1/2 nuts
- Turmeric: 1/2 inch piece
- Ginger: 1/2 inch piece
Seasoning:
- Salt: to taste
- Sugar: to taste

- In a blender, combine the shallots, garlic, roasted coriander seeds, roasted candlenuts, turmeric, and ginger. Blend until smooth, adding a bit of water if necessary to achieve a paste-like consistency.
