Baked Alaccia with Artichokes and Peas
Category: Main Dishes | Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Artichokes 675g
Alaccia (a type of fish) 230g
Peas (fresh or frozen) 150g
Lemon 1
Extra virgin olive oil 50g
Garlic 1 clove
White wine 50g
Breadcrumbs 30g
Thyme 3 sprigs
Sage 4 leaves
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Instructions:

To prepare this delicious Baked Alaccia with Artichokes and Peas, begin by cleaning the artichokes. Cut off the tougher part of the stem and trim the top of the artichoke. Slice each artichoke in half, removing the fuzzy inner choke, and cut each half into quarters. To prevent browning, place the artichoke slices into a bowl of water with the juice of one lemon.

Once all the artichokes are prepared, drain them and set them aside. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the garlic clove until fragrant. Add the artichoke quarters and cook them over medium-high heat for about 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Next, pour in the white wine, letting it reduce for a couple of minutes. Season with salt and pepper, and cover the pan to keep the artichokes tender.

While the artichokes are cooking, prepare the alaccia fillets. Gently remove any bones from the fish and pat it dry with paper towels. For a fragrant touch, finely chop the thyme and sage leaves and mix them together. Rub this aromatic herb mixture evenly over the alaccia fillets.

Transfer the fillets to a baking dish and drizzle them with an additional tablespoon of olive oil.

Now, add the peas to the skillet with the artichokes and cook together for another few minutes until the peas are tender. Carefully layer the cooked artichokes and peas over the fish fillets in the baking dish. Top everything with breadcrumbs for a crunchy, golden finish.

Place the baking dish in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the alaccia is cooked through and the breadcrumbs are golden and crispy.

Serve this dish hot, garnished with a fresh squeeze of lemon if desired. The combination of the tender fish, flavorful artichokes, sweet peas, and crunchy breadcrumbs makes for a comforting yet elegant main dish, perfect for any occasion.

Enjoy this flavorful and nutritious dish with a side of roasted potatoes or a simple salad. It’s an easy yet impressive meal that will surely delight your guests!
