Daging Sapi Bumbu Bali
Ingredients:
- 250 grams of beef, cut into pieces
- 1 stalk of lemongrass, bruised
- 2 kaffir lime leaves
- 1/2 lime, juiced
- 1/2 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- Salt to taste
- Sugar to taste
- Cooking oil for sautรฉing
- 1 cup of water
Spice Paste:
- 4 shallots
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 7 red curly chilies
- 2 candlenuts
- 1 cm ginger
Instructions:

Prepare the Beef:
- Cut the beef into pieces and wash thoroughly.

Sautรฉ the Spice Paste:
- Heat cooking oil in a pan. Add the spice paste, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves. Sautรฉ until fragrant.

Cook the Beef:
- Add the beef pieces into the pan. Stir in sweet soy sauce, salt, sugar, and lime juice. Mix well until the beef changes color.

Simmer:
- Pour in the water and cook until the beef is tender and the liquid has reduced. Adjust the consistency to your liking. If you prefer a bit of sauce, you can stop cooking earlier while there is still some liquid left.

Serve:
- Remove from heat and serve hot. This dish pairs wonderfully with steaming hot rice. Enjoy your meal!
Note: For those who prefer a bit of sauce, you can adjust the cooking time to retain some liquid. Personally, I cook until the liquid is fully reduced to avoid too much oil.
