Description:
Yes, the whole thing, not just slices! Because I didn’t want to put the oven on for 2 hours in this heat, I decided to try it. The ham came out juicy and tasty, much like baked ham with a minimal barbecue taste. If it’s too hot to have the oven on for hours, this method is a great alternative. I even fried pierogies in butter in a foil pan on the other side of the grill to complement it!

Ingredients:
- 1 boneless ham (approximately 4 lbs)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat gas grill on high for about 10 minutes.
- Prepare the ham by placing it on a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
- Rub brown sugar evenly over the surface of the ham.
- Wrap the ham tightly with the first sheet of foil.
- Wrap tightly with a second sheet of foil to ensure it’s well sealed.
- Lower the grill temperature to low heat on both sides.
- Place the ham on the top warmer rack of the grill. If using the lower rack, place it in a foil pan to prevent the bottom from drying out.
- Close the grill lid and allow the ham to cook for about 1 1/2 hours. Resist the urge to open the grill during cooking.
- Carefully remove the top layer of foil from the ham over a pan to catch any drippings and preserve the brown sugar juices.
- Slice and serve the juicy, flavorful ham hot off the grill!
This method of cooking a whole ham on the barbecue offers a convenient and delicious alternative to using the oven, especially in warmer weather. The brown sugar creates a sweet glaze that enhances the natural flavors of the ham, making it a crowd-pleaser for gatherings or easy family dinners. Pair it with your favorite sides or try something adventurous like fried pierogies for a complete meal that everyone will enjoy!
