Elevate your next meal with this delicious and flavorful beef steak accompanied by a rich BBQ sauce. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to your preference, this dish pairs beautifully with crispy air-fried potatoes. Follow these steps for a satisfying and hearty dinner that’s sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams sirloin steak (purchased fresh from the supermarket)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or dried if preferred)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 packet Del Monte BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup canned button mushrooms (or fresh if available)
  • 1/4 onion (chopped)
  • 6 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 250 grams frozen potatoes (or fresh, if preferred)
  • Butter (for cooking)
  • 1 teaspoon mushroom stock powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak:

    • Season the sirloin steak with salt, black pepper, and fresh thyme. Allow it to marinate in the refrigerator for approximately 1 hour. This will infuse the steak with flavors and enhance its tenderness.
  2. Prepare the BBQ Sauce:

    • Finely chop the onion. Slice the canned mushrooms into halves or quarters depending on their size.
    • In a skillet, heat a generous amount of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until fragrant and golden brown.
    • Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook briefly until they begin to soften.
    • Pour in the Del Monte BBQ sauce and a splash of water to achieve the desired consistency of the sauce. Season with salt, black pepper, mushroom stock powder, and oregano. Stir well and adjust the seasoning to taste. Allow the sauce to simmer gently while you prepare the steak.
  3. Cook the Steak:

    • Crush the garlic cloves, leaving the skins off. Heat more butter in a separate skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Place the marinated steak into the skillet, adding the crushed garlic and additional thyme. Cook the steak to your preferred level of doneness, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. The garlic and thyme will infuse additional flavor into the steak as it cooks.
  4. Prepare the Potatoes:

    • If using frozen potatoes, cook them in an air fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions until they are crispy and golden. For fresh potatoes, peel and cut them into desired shapes, then fry or bake them until crispy.
    • Season the cooked potatoes with a pinch of salt while they are still hot.
  5. Serve:

    • Arrange the cooked steak on a serving plate, drizzling generously with the BBQ sauce.
    • Serve alongside the crispy air-fried potatoes for a well-rounded and satisfying meal.

Enjoy your homemade beef steak with BBQ sauce, a dish that’s perfect for any occasion, from casual dinners to special gatherings. The blend of rich flavors and textures will make this a new favorite in your recipe repertoire.
