Savory Aussie Tenderloin Steak with Creamy Mushroom Sauce

Elevate your dinner with this succulent Aussie tenderloin steak paired with a rich, creamy mushroom sauce. The tenderloin is marinated in BBQ sauce for a flavorful punch, while the mushroom sauce, made with a blend of fresh ingredients, adds a delectable touch. Here’s how to prepare this delightful dish:

Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 150 grams Aussie tenderloin
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • BBQ sauce (any brand of your choice)

For the Mushroom Sauce:

  • 100 grams button mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 6 tablespoons water
  • Grated cheese (your choice)
  • Ground black pepper
  • Salt
  • Steamed broccoli (for serving)

Additional:

  • Butter (for cooking the steak and mushrooms)
  • Fried egg (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak:

    • Begin by cleaning the tenderloin and seasoning it generously with salt and ground black pepper.
    • Marinate the steak in BBQ sauce, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let it sit for 1 hour to absorb the flavors.
  2. Make the Mushroom Sauce:

    • In a skillet, melt a small amount of butter over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic, chopped onion, and sliced button mushrooms until they are fragrant and golden brown.
    • Pour in the milk and stir, allowing it to combine with the mushroom mixture.
    • Gradually add the grated cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce begins to thicken.
    • Mix the cornstarch-water mixture into the sauce, stirring until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Season with ground black pepper and salt to taste. Adjust seasoning if needed, then remove from heat.
  3. Cook the Steak:

    • Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of butter.
    • Cook the steak for about 4 minutes on each side for a medium-rare doneness. For a more well-done steak, cook for an additional 1-2 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the meat. Once cooked to your preference, remove from the pan and let it rest briefly.
  4. Serve:

    • Arrange the steamed broccoli on a plate, followed by the cooked steak. Spoon the creamy mushroom sauce generously over the steak.
    • For an added touch, you can also serve with a fried egg on the side.

Enjoy this satisfying meal, guaranteed to impress with its rich flavors and creamy sauce!
