BBQ-Flavored Tofu and Tempeh Skewers Recipe

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Tempeh 1 block, cut into cubes
Yellow tofu 5 pieces, cut into cubes
Garlic 2 cloves, crushed
Margarine 1 tbsp
BBQ sauce 7 tbsp
Tomato sauce 1 tbsp
Oregano As needed
Salt To taste
Sugar To taste
Water As needed

Instructions:

  1. Frying the Tempeh and Tofu:

    • Start by frying the cubed tempeh and tofu in hot oil until they are cooked through but not crispy. Once done, remove them from the pan and set them aside.
  2. Preparing the BBQ Sauce:

    • In a separate pan, melt the margarine over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic and sauté until fragrant.
    • Pour in the BBQ sauce, stirring continuously, then add a small amount of water to thin out the sauce as desired.
  3. Adding Seasonings:

    • Next, season the sauce by adding salt, sugar, tomato sauce, and oregano. Stir well and taste the sauce, adjusting the seasoning if necessary.
  4. Coating the Tempeh and Tofu:

    • Carefully place the fried tempeh and tofu into the pan with the sauce. Gently stir to ensure that the sauce evenly coats all the cubes.
  5. Simmering:

    • Let the tempeh and tofu simmer in the sauce for a few minutes until the sauce is absorbed, then turn off the heat.
  6. Serving:

    • Serve the BBQ-flavored tempeh and tofu immediately. For a fun twist, you can skewer the tempeh and tofu cubes onto satay sticks to make them more appealing to children. Serve with a side of chili sauce for an extra kick!
