Stir-Fried Beef with Black Bean Sauce and Green Beans

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams ground beef
  • 1/4 cup green beans, cut into long pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon black bean paste (taousi)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon beef or chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef:

    • In a bowl, combine the ground beef with soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and a pinch of cornstarch. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Prepare the Vegetables:

    • Slice the green beans into long pieces.
    • Mince the garlic and black bean paste (taousi) if needed.
  3. Cook the Beef:

    • Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated ground beef and stir-fry until it is nearly cooked through, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  4. Stir-Fry the Aromatics:

    • In the same pan, add a little oil. Sauté the minced garlic and black bean paste until they become fragrant.
  5. Cook the Green Beans:

    • Add the sliced green beans to the pan with the garlic and black bean paste. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the beans are tender-crisp.
    • Season with a bit of salt and sugar. Add a splash of water, cover the pan, and let it steam for a couple of minutes.
  6. Combine and Finish:

    • Return the cooked beef to the pan with the green beans. Mix everything together and cook for another few minutes until the beef is fully cooked and everything is heated through.
  7. Serve:

    • Once the green beans are tender and the beef is well combined with the vegetables and seasonings, remove from heat. Serve hot with steamed rice.
