Beef and Broccoli in Black Pepper Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1/4 pound beef (cut into thin strips)
- 1 head of broccoli (cut into florets)
- 1 onion (diced)
- 500 ml beef broth
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon black pepper powder
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger (crushed)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
- Sugar (to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Beef: Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the beef strips until they are just cooked through. Drain and set aside. Once cooled slightly, slice the beef into thin strips.
-
Prepare the Broccoli: Wash the broccoli florets and soak them in a saltwater solution for about 10 minutes. Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for a brief period, just until they turn bright green. Drain and set aside.
-
Sauté the Aromatics: Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and diced onion. Sauté until they are fragrant and the onions are translucent.
-
Create the Sauce: Add the oyster sauce, tomato sauce, and sweet soy sauce to the pan. Stir in the black pepper powder, beef broth, crushed ginger, a pinch of sugar, and salt to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
-
Cook the Beef: Add the sliced beef to the sauce. Continue to cook until the beef is tender and the sauce has reduced to your desired consistency.
-
Adjust the Seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary by adding more sugar or salt to suit your preference.
-
Assemble the Dish: Place the blanched broccoli in serving bowls. Spoon the beef and black pepper sauce over the broccoli.
-
Serve: Enjoy your Beef and Broccoli in Black Pepper Sauce as a delicious and flavorful meal, perfect on its own or served with steamed rice.
