Salmon Steak with Black Pepper Sauce
Ingredients:
- 250 grams salmon steak (remove skin if desired)
- Freshly ground black pepper for marinating
- Garlic powder for marinating
- 1 large carrot, diced
- 1 corn on the cob, kernels removed
- 10 green beans, trimmed
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1.5 tablespoons black pepper powder
- 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in water
- Olive oil and margarine, for sautéing
- Granulated sugar, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Salmon:
- Rinse the salmon thoroughly. If you prefer, you can remove the skin. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels.
- Season the salmon with freshly ground black pepper and garlic powder. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors infuse.
-
Prepare the Vegetables:
- In a pot of boiling water, cook the diced carrot and corn kernels separately until tender. Drain and set aside.
- Heat a combination of olive oil and margarine in a pan. Add the green beans and sauté, occasionally turning them, until they are cooked through and slightly crispy. Remove and drain.
-
Make the Sauce:
- In the same pan, heat a bit of olive oil and add the finely chopped onion. Sauté until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and continue to sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in the oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce, and black pepper powder. Add a splash of water to create the sauce. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer.
- Adjust the flavor with sugar and salt. Once it reaches your preferred taste, stir in the cornstarch mixture. Cook until the sauce slightly thickens. Set aside.
-
Cook the Salmon:
- Heat a non-stick skillet with a bit of olive oil until it is very hot.
- Place the salmon in the skillet, skin side down, and cook over medium heat. Flip the salmon once it is golden brown and cooked through, and the texture is firm and no longer wet. Remove from heat.
-
Assemble and Serve:
- Arrange the cooked carrot, corn, and green beans on a plate. Top with the salmon steak.
- Drizzle the black pepper sauce generously over the salmon.
- Serve hot and enjoy your flavorful Salmon Steak with Black Pepper Sauce! 😋
