Teriyaki Black Pepper Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken breast, bone-in
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 large red chili
  • 1 large green chili
  • Butter for sautéing
  • 1 packet teriyaki sauce (2 tbsp)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 packet chicken broth seasoning (Royco Ayam)
  • Cornstarch slurry (optional, for thickening)

Instructions:

  1. Heat a skillet with a little butter and sauté chopped garlic and onion until fragrant. You can marinate the chicken in teriyaki sauce for 15 minutes beforehand to enhance flavor.

  2. Add the chicken to the skillet and stir-fry until partially cooked, then add the green and red chilies. Pour in a little water to deglaze.

  3. Stir in the chicken broth seasoning, sugar, and ground black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

  4. If desired, thicken the sauce with a cornstarch slurry. (Note: If you forgot the cornstarch like I did, don’t worry, it still tastes great!)

  5. Once everything is cooked through, add chopped spring onions for garnish. Serve hot with steamed rice.

Enjoy this delicious twist on teriyaki chicken with a hint of black pepper, perfect for a flavorful meal any day of the week!
