Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Bourbon
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 beef top round steaks (or flank steaks)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large plastic bag or resealable bag, combine 1 cup of water with the brown sugar, Bourbon, soy sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh coarse ground black pepper. Mix well until the brown sugar is dissolved and all the ingredients are fully incorporated.

  2. Marinate the Steaks: Place the beef top round steaks (or flank steaks) into the bag with the marinade. Seal the bag, making sure to press out any excess air. Gently turn the bag to coat the steaks thoroughly with the marinade.

  3. Refrigerate: Place the marinating bag in a shallow glass baking dish to catch any potential leaks. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight, turning the bag occasionally to ensure even marination.

  4. Preheat and Prepare: When ready to cook, remove the steaks from the marinade and discard the marinade.

  5. Grill the Steaks: For grilling, preheat your grill to medium heat. Place the steaks on the grill and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, turning once, until they reach your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for about 15 minutes on the grill.

    Or

Broil the Steaks: Preheat your broiler. Place the steaks on the rack of a broiling pan. Broil the steaks close to the heat source for 15 to 20 minutes, turning once, until they are medium-rare. If using top round steaks, broil for 25 to 30 minutes to achieve the desired doneness.

  6. Serve: Let the steaks rest for a few minutes after cooking, then slice and serve. Enjoy your flavorful, bourbon-marinated steaks!
