Ingredients:
- 2 flour tortillas
- 2 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 tart apple, peeled, cored, and finely diced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Apple Mixture:
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Mix well to blend the flavors. -
Cook the Apples:
Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add the diced apple and the brown sugar mixture. Stir and sauté the apples for about 2 minutes, or until they start to soften and become aromatic. Remove from heat and transfer the apple mixture to a small bowl. -
Prepare the Tortillas:
Brush one side of each tortilla with the remaining tablespoon of butter. In a small bowl, mix together the white sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered side of both tortillas. -
Assemble the Quesadilla:
Heat the sauté pan over medium heat. Once hot, place one tortilla in the pan, buttered and sugared side down. Spoon the apple mixture over the tortilla, spreading it out evenly. Drizzle a bit of vanilla ice cream topping or caramel sauce over the apples, if desired. Place the second tortilla on top, buttered and sugared side up. -
Cook the Quesadilla:
Sauté for 1-2 minutes, or until the bottom tortilla is browned and crispy. Carefully flip the quesadilla and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until the second side is also browned and crispy. -
Serve:
Remove the quesadilla from the pan and place it on a plate. For an extra touch of indulgence, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with additional caramel sauce if desired. Slice into wedges and savor the apple pie flavor in every bite!
