Mixed Greens With Caramelized Pears and Walnuts Recipe πŸ₯—

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1/2 cup Walnuts
2 Pears
2 tbsp Butter
1 Sugar
3 tbsp White wine
1/4 cup Rice vinegar
3 tbsp White wine vinegar
1/2 cup Walnut oil or Olive oil
2 cloves Garlic
To taste Salt
To taste Fresh coarse ground black pepper
6 – 8 Phyllo dough
1 Olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Toast Walnuts: Spread the walnuts evenly on a baking sheet and lightly toast them in the preheated oven. Once done, remove from the oven and let them cool.

  3. Prepare Pears: Peel and core the pears, then cut them into 1/2-inch dice.

  4. Caramelize Pears: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced pears and sugar, then sautΓ© them, stirring frequently, until the pears start to caramelize slightly. Next, add the white wine and continue cooking until the pears are just glazed. Remove from heat and let them cool.

  5. Prepare Dressing: In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the rice vinegar, white wine vinegar, walnut or olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  6. Toss Greens: Toss your mixed greens with the prepared dressing, ensuring they’re evenly coated. Distribute the dressed greens among eight individual serving plates.

  7. Add Pears and Walnuts: Spoon the caramelized pears and toasted walnuts around the outside of the greens on each plate.

  8. Make Goat Cheese Croutons: Cut the goat cheese into eight 1/2-inch slices. Using thawed phyllo dough, cut it into long, thin strips. Wrap each goat cheese round in a nest of phyllo strips, resembling shredded wheat.

  9. Prepare for Broiling: Place the wrapped goat cheese rounds on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Optionally, you can refrigerate them, covered, for up to 1 hour at this point.

  10. Broil the Croutons: When ready to use, preheat your broiler. Brush the phyllo/goat cheese rounds with olive oil. Place them under the broiler in the oven until lightly browned. Turn them over and brown the other side.

  11. Assemble and Serve: Remove the browned phyllo/goat cheese rounds from the oven and transfer them to the center of the greens on each plate using a spatula. Serve your Mixed Greens With Caramelized Pears and Walnuts immediately and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors and textures!

This refreshing salad is perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a casual family dinner or a special gathering with friends. The caramelized pears add a subtle sweetness, complemented by the crunchy walnuts and tangy goat cheese croutons. It’s a dish that’s sure to impress your guests and leave them craving for more!
