Description:

Just when you thought you would never find a genuine Cantonese hoisin sauce…well, this one’s it…and wow, is is yummy. This wonderful sauce can be used with so many different other recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pork spare ribs
  • 2 cups hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 4-5 cloves fresh garlic

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Mix first 4 ingredients. In a bowl, combine hoisin sauce, fish sauce, and minced fresh garlic. Stir until well combined.
2 Rub all over the ribs to coat well. Take the pork spare ribs and rub the hoisin sauce mixture all over them, ensuring they are evenly coated.
3 Cover, and refrigerate for 3 or more hours. Place the coated ribs in a covered container and refrigerate for at least 3 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the meat to marinate.
4 Remove from fridge; grill over medium heat. Preheat your grill to medium heat. Remove the ribs from the fridge and place them on the grill. Cook, turning once or twice, until the ribs are slightly charred and cooked through. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes.
5 Let cool slightly; cut into bite-size pieces. Once cooked, remove the ribs from the grill and let them cool for a few minutes. Then, using a sharp knife, cut the ribs into bite-size pieces.
6 Serve with any leftover sauce. Arrange the bite-size ribs on a serving platter and drizzle any remaining hoisin sauce over the top.
7 Note: if you prefer lots of sauce, just double the recipe. If you’re a fan of extra saucy ribs, feel free to double the hoisin sauce mixture for a richer flavor experience.
