Dimsum Mashed Potato Beef Cheese Delight

Ingredients:

  • 3 small potatoes
  • 1 sachet of corned beef
  • Quick melt cheese
  • 3 beef meatballs
  • Celery
  • Green onions
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 cloves of shallots
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar
  • Wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg

Preparation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:

    • Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly.
    • Cut them into medium-sized pieces.
  2. Cook the Potatoes:

    • Boil water in a pot.
    • Add the potato pieces and cook until they are soft and tender.
  3. Prepare the Aromatics:

    • While the potatoes are cooking, finely mince the shallots and garlic.
    • Sauté the minced shallots and garlic in a pan until they are fragrant and golden.
  4. Chop the Greens and Proteins:

    • Finely chop the green onions and celery.
    • Dice the beef meatballs and quick melt cheese into small cubes.
  5. Separate the Egg:

    • Separate the egg yolk from the egg white.
    • Reserve the egg white for later use in sealing the dimsum.
  6. Mash and Mix:

    • Once the potatoes are cooked and tender, mash them until smooth.
    • Add the egg yolk, corned beef, green onions, celery, and sautéed shallots and garlic to the mashed potatoes.
    • Season the mixture with pepper, salt, and granulated sugar.
    • Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and form a cohesive dough.
  7. Assemble the Dimsum:

    • Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
    • Place a spoonful of the potato mixture in the center of each wrapper.
    • Add a cube of cheese and a piece of diced meatball on top of the filling.
    • Fold the wonton wrappers around the filling to form dimsum shapes of your choice.
    • Use the reserved egg white to brush the edges of the wrappers, sealing them securely.
  8. Steam the Dimsum:

    • Place the prepared dimsum in a steamer.
    • Steam them for about 20 minutes or until the wrappers are cooked and the filling is hot and melted.
  9. Serve:

    • Once steamed, transfer the dimsum to a serving plate.
    • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
