Title: Chicken and Potato Pie

Ingredients:

  • 4 small potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 150 grams minced chicken
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 150 ml milk (reserve 2 tablespoons for mixing with mashed potatoes)
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • Dried basil to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Chicken: In a skillet, sauté the minced chicken until fully cooked, stirring occasionally to ensure it doesn’t stick or burn. Once cooked, sprinkle in the flour, stirring constantly to prevent it from browning. Gradually pour in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture is smooth and thickened. Add the chopped parsley and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Allow the mixture to cook until it is well combined and the flavors meld together.

  2. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes with the remaining milk, butter, and additional salt and pepper to taste. Mix until the potatoes are smooth and creamy.

  3. Assemble the Pie: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare an oven-safe dish by spreading the cooked chicken mixture evenly in the bottom. Spread the mashed potatoes over the chicken, smoothing it out with a spatula to cover completely.

  4. Add Cheese and Bake: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top of the mashed potatoes. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

  5. Serve: Once baked, let the pie cool slightly before serving. Garnish with a sprinkle of dried basil if desired.
