Ingredients:

  • 3 bags frozen hash brown potatoes
  • 3 onions
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 – 2 cups gruyere cheese
  • 1 1/2 – 2 cups havarti cheese
  • 3 cups half-and-half

Instructions:

Step Description
1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
2. Grease a large roasting pan with butter or cooking spray.
3. In a very large bowl, combine thawed hash brown potatoes, chopped onions, minced garlic, and freshly ground black pepper. Use your hands to toss until well combined.
4. Mix in the smaller amount of both gruyere and havarti cheeses, and taste the mixture. Add more cheeses or pepper as desired for extra flavor.
5. Pack the potato mixture into the greased roasting pan, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
6. Pour the half-and-half over the top of the potato mixture, covering it evenly. Sprinkle additional freshly ground black pepper on top for added seasoning.
7. Bake the casserole, uncovered, in the preheated oven for at least 1 hour. You can bake it for up to 2 hours if you prefer a more browned texture.
8. Halfway through the baking time, carefully stir the casserole from the bottom up to incorporate the browned bits throughout.
9. Remember to stir only once during the baking process.
10. If you notice that the potatoes are browning too quickly and aren’t cooked enough, cover the casserole with foil until it’s done baking.

This Potluck Potatoes Casserole is a delightful combination of cheesy goodness and hearty potatoes, perfect for feeding a crowd at your next gathering. Enjoy the creamy texture and rich flavors of this comforting dish that’s sure to be a hit every time you serve it! ๐ŸŽ‰
