Tempe Stuffed with Sausage and Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempeh and Sausages:

    • Cut the tempeh into thick slices. Carefully slit the center of each slice to create a pocket for stuffing.
    • Slice the sausages to match the length of the tempeh slices, then cut them into quarters lengthwise.
  2. Stuff the Tempeh:

    • Take a piece of tempeh and fill the center pocket with the sausage slices. Repeat this for all the tempeh slices.
  3. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a bowl, mix the seasoned flour, chopped scallions, and enough water to create a smooth batter.
    • Dip each stuffed tempeh slice into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  4. Fry the Tempeh:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Fry the battered tempeh until it turns golden brown and crispy on all sides. Once done, drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  5. Make the Cheese Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water. Add the egg yolk and whisk until smooth.
    • In a saucepan, heat the milk over low heat and add the grated cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese melts.
