These Cheese Squares are the ultimate crowd-pleaser! With their delightful combination of cheesy goodness and Tex Mex flavors, they make for a perfect appetizer or snack. The best part? You can prepare them ahead of time, freeze them, and bake them whenever you need a quick and tasty treat!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 can green chilies
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 loaves bread

Instructions:

Step Description
1 In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, margarine, and egg until smooth.
2 Stir in the green chilies, salsa, and shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
3 Spread about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture onto each slice of one loaf of bread.
4 Top with the remaining slices of bread, then spread more cheese mixture on top.
5 Cut each sandwich into 4 squares and place them on a greased baking sheet.
6 At this point, you have the option to either bake the squares immediately or freeze them for later.
7 If baking immediately, preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and bake the squares for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
8 To freeze the squares, place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour.
9 Once frozen, remove the squares from the baking sheet and store them in an airtight container in the freezer.
10 When ready to bake from frozen, preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and place the squares on a greased baking sheet.
11 Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the squares are golden brown and heated through.
12 Serve hot and enjoy the cheesy goodness!
