Ingredients:

  • 180 g elbow macaroni – cooked until al dente
  • 2 tablespoons margarine – for sautéing
  • 2 cloves garlic – crushed and finely chopped
  • 1/2 onion – finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 400 ml plain milk
  • 170 g canned tuna – (100 g recommended)
  • 1 sausage – cut into small cubes
  • 75 g grated cheese
  • 3 large eggs – beaten
  • Salt, sugar, nutmeg, and pepper – to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Macaroni:

    • Boil the macaroni in salted water until al dente, adding a touch of oil to prevent sticking. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:

    • Heat the margarine in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
    • Add the garlic and continue to sauté until fragrant.
    • Stir in the tuna and flour, mixing well until the mixture appears crumbly and evenly combined.
    • Gradually pour in the milk while stirring continuously to achieve a smooth sauce without lumps.
  3. Combine Ingredients:

    • Add the grated cheese, salt, sugar, nutmeg, and pepper to the sauce. Cook until the cheese has melted and the sauce begins to bubble.
    • Incorporate the cooked macaroni into the sauce, stirring until evenly coated. Remove from heat.
  4. Add the Eggs:

    • Allow the mixture to cool slightly before folding in the beaten eggs. Mix thoroughly to combine.
  5. Bake:

    • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Grease a ramekin or ovenproof dish with margarine. Pour the macaroni mixture into the prepared dish and top with additional grated cheese.
    • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the mixture is set.
  6. Serve:

    • Allow the baked macaroni to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with or without your favorite sauce, as desired.
