Mushroom Tuna Puff Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 package puff pastry (I used EDO brand)
- 1 small can of tuna, drained
- 1 small can of button mushrooms, drained
- 200 grams cheddar cheese (Kraft), for filling and topping
- 1 large onion
- 5 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons Palmia garlic margarine
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- Salt to taste
- Ground black pepper to taste
- A pinch of sugar
- 3 egg yolks, for egg wash
Instructions:

Prepare the Ingredients:
- Dice the onion and finely chop the garlic. Cut the button mushrooms into small pieces. Set aside.
- Grate the cheddar cheese for both the filling and the topping.

Cook the Filling:
- In a pan, melt the margarine over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and diced onion, sautéing until fragrant and translucent.
- Add the drained tuna and button mushrooms to the pan. Season with fish sauce, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar. Stir well and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture is heated through and the flavors are well combined. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Thaw the puff pastry according to the package instructions if needed. On a lightly floured surface, cut the puff pastry into your desired shapes. For triangles, cut each sheet into 4 pieces; for squares, cut into 6 equal pieces.

Assemble the Puffs:
- Place a spoonful of the tuna and mushroom mixture in the center of each pastry piece. Top with some grated cheddar cheese.
- Fold the pastry over the filling to form triangles or squares, pressing the edges together to seal. Use the tines of a fork to crimp and seal all the edges.

Add the Finishing Touches:
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg yolks for a golden finish. Sprinkle additional grated cheddar cheese on top if desired.

Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Arrange the prepared pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy. Adjust baking time as needed based on your oven.
